Recently D.M.K. leader Karunanidhi, while speaking about the price raise, advised his UPA partners, that the rule of people, who killed Gandhi, should not come again. We do not aware about which party he was thinking and talking.
In the meanwhile, BJP leader Rajnath Singh demanded the Union Government to reveal details in Rajiv Gandhi case.
The information published in the News papers are given below.
The BJP on Tuesday 29-4-2008 demanded the Union government to disclose the progress made by a special agency constituted by it a decade ago to probe the ‘wider conspiracy’ behind the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. BJP president Rajnath Singh told a press conference here that the UPA regime should reveal the details of the progress made by the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) formed by the BJP-led NDA regime in 1998. “It is now four years since the UPA came to power, but not a word has been said as yet on the MDMA’s progress. It is surprising that with Sonia Gandhi in full command in the government, nothing is happening in the Rajiv assassination conspiracy investigation,” Singh said. He recalled that the Congress led by Sonia Gandhi had brought down the then United Front government (of I K Gujral) in 1998 on the question whether the DMK, a constituent of that regime, was involved in the plot. The then government had formed the MDMA, acting on the report of the Jain Commission, which had probed the conspiracy aspects of the assassination. The agency had sent out letters rogatory to 27 countries when the NDA was in power, but nothing had been heard about the case since then.
The extract Para of Jain Commission report is given below.
Justice Milap Chand Jain ceremonially presented his 17-volume interim report on Rajiv Gandhi's assassination to Home Minister Indrajit Gupta on August 28. The commission had been asked to look into the circumstances of and the conspiracy leading to Rajiv's murder.
. The 5,280 page report, comprising eight volumes of interim findings and nine volumes of annexures bound in black rexine, holds Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and his DMK responsible for abetting Rajiv Gandhi's murderers. Also blamed are two former prime ministers, V.P. Singh and Chandra Shekhar, for their laxity in assessing the threat to Rajiv.
A fault confessed is half redressed.
