The Present Chief Minister Jayalalithaa not stepped inside the nuclear complex type assembly building which the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi got constructed at a whopping cost of Rs.600 crores spending the money from the government exchequer.
The dome was constructed at a cost of INR 250 million and measures 30 m tall and 45 m in diameter. A baffle wall was constructed in three layers and is being erected in a circular structure at a height of 100 ft. The complex was designed by German-based Architect Company GMP, a united venture of Meinhard von Gerkan and Volkwin Marg based at Berlin ..
The previous Tamil Nadu assembly building which gives an exterior look of a nuclear complex was designed by a German architect. The building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on March 13; 2010. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The Present Chief Minister Jayalalithaa not stepped inside the building which was constructed by Karunanidhis and the present T.N. Assembly is functioning at St.George Fort only.
