Kalaignar Karunanidhi stated in his message that the Tamil society was proud that Dr. Ramakrishnan, who was born in Chidambaram, was the third Tamil to get the Nobel Prize after C.V. Raman (1930) and Chandrasekhar (1983). Karunanidhi knows they are all belonging to Brahmin community. Like this several Brahmins are belonging to Sixty three Nayanmars have devoted their life to Lord Siva and done wonderful job for Tamil and Tamil culture.
Mahakavi Bharathi left an indelible mark as the poet of Tamil nationalism and Indian freedom. Dr. U. V. Swaminatha Iyer was a Tamil scholar and researcher who was instrumental in bringing many long-forgotten works of classical Tamil literature to light. His singular effort over five decades brought to light major literary works in Tamil and contributed vastly to the enrichment of its literary heritage. Dr. Iyer published over 91 books in his lifetime, on a variety of matters connected to classical Tamil literature, and collected 3067 paper manuscripts, palm leaf manuscripts and notes of various kinds. He is affectionly called as "Tamil Thatha" (Grandfather of Tamil)
The Brahmin community people in Tamil Nadu have contributed more, by way of promoting Tamil language, Music, Dance, Drama, Science, Math’s and other subjects. They have done wonderful job in promoting Tamil language, culture and Tamil grammar and also sacrificed their life for Indian Independence. By natural they are very simple people with great intelligence and devotion to God.

The Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday decided to host the ninth World Tamil Conference in Coimbatore from Jan 21 to 24, 2010.The decision was taken at a high-level meeting at the Secretariat presided over by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. It was decided to set up several committees to look after preparations for the conference and also send out invitations to Tamil scholars the world over.
We request Kalaignar Karunanidhi to include Brahmin Scholars also in the conference without any caste hatred.
